This workshop is designed especially for members of Christian communities and affiliate organizations, but is open to individuals and members of all institutions.  Workshop participants are introduced to an analysis of racism as a systemic, institutional problem of power and presented with the concept of a structural intervention to dismantle it. The workshop will specifically examine how racism is at play in all aspects of organizational life, mission, and purpose, in spite of intentional efforts to serve in racially inclusive and equitable ways. Workshop participants will be exposed to the historical role of the church and will also examine the development of larger US systems that perpetuate race-based social and economic harm. Participants will also gain critical insight into the ways to assess and disrupt institutional life-ways that sustain racist practice. The third day of the workshop will introduce a strategic methodology to engage the work of dismantling racism in institutions and larger societal sectors like religion, healthcare, philanthropy, and education.
