Youth Activism Workshop

https://mohistory.org/events/youth-activism-workshop-3

This event is part of the Missouri Historical Society’s “How Did We Get Here?” series, which explores modern efforts to contextualize racism and anti-blackness through a historical lens.

This workshop is recommended for youth ages 6-12. Kids will explore the broader context of the Civil Rights movement through a variety of primary sources and evaluate how activists communicate their messages through images and words. Then they will identify and explain issues they care about by creating a poster that advocates for their views.

At the end of the workshop, a special Zoom link will be provided for caregivers who wish to join an open dialogue on race and parenting. The facilitated conversation will address how we can process and talk about current events and issues around race with our children. This will be a meeting-based format, and parents can use their sound and camera to participate.
