The St. Louis Real Estate Tax Assistance Fund (RETAF)’s work was recently profiled by Fox 2 News. RETAF’s goal is to help economically distressed families save their homes from real estate tax foreclosure.

CBN members Park Central Development, Prosperity Connection, and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri are partnering with the City of St. Louis Collector of Revenue’s Office to coordinate RETAF.

St. Louis Real Estate Tax Assistance Fund to receive $500,000 in ARPA funds

The City of St. Louis has announced it is investing $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the St. Louis Real Estate Tax Assistance Fund (RETAF) to help keep families in their homes before 2022 tax sales start in April.

CBN members Park Central Development, Prosperity Connection, and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri announced in the fall that they were partnering with the City of St. Louis Collector of Revenue’s Office to launch RETAF. St. Louis Development Corporation has selected Beyond the Bridge—a joint venture that includes Smith NMTC Associates LLC and CBN members Park Central Development and IFF—to administer a new $15 million revolving fund designed to grow new construction and homeownership in St. Louis neighborhoods that have struggled with disinvestment.

6 CBN Members Receive $370,000 in Affordable Housing Trust Fund Awards for 2022

CBN members DeSales Community Development, Dutchtown South Community Corporation, Employment Connection, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Park Central Development, and Rebuilding Together St. Louis have been awarded $370,000 in funds from the City of St. Louis’ Affordable Housing Trust Fund to support housing and social services projects. The Affordable Housing Commission awarded roughly $5.3 million for FY 2022.

On Aug. 24, Park Central Development and the Landmarks Association of St. Louis conducted the official dedication for the Oscar Waring House, located in the Grove neighborhood, as a City of St. Louis Historical Landmark. Oscar Waring was the first Black Principal of Historic Sumner High School and was a remarkable scholar.

Park Central Development Launches Golden Access Program for Black and Brown Parents

The Golden Access Program is a placed-based grassroots approach to deliver critical product and educational resources that gives holistic alternatives to black & brown mothers, babies and single fathers with newborns. Workshops are free to attend and are held virtually thru Zoom. Program participants will receive a “New Family Baby Basket” filled with $100 worth of baby & new mom goodies and a $50 gift card to Golden Grocers.

Park Central Development has rolled out a comprehensive new financial assistance program for residents in the neighborhoods they serve, including emergency utility assistance, rental/mortgage assistance, a minor home repair program, and more. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Park Central Development recently launched its Stay In Place Program (SIPP) to help keep their residents in the neighborhoods they call home.

Resource Specialist Nanyamka Brown is supporting families to sign up and access resources including:

  • Utility Assistance

  • Emergency Rental/Mortgage Assistance

  • Security Deposit Funds

Park Central Development Launches Kindness Groceries Program to Deliver Fresh Food to Families and Seniors

Park Central Development, in partnership with the Forest Park Southeast Development Corporation and Missouri Foundation for Health, is working with City Greens Market to provide no-contact fresh grocery deliveries to families and seniors in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood. The Park Central team is working to partner with additional organizations ti provide groceries to residents in the Academy/Sherman Park and Fountain Park Neighborhoods.

Park Central Development & WUMCRC Team Up to Provide Kindness Meals

Park Central Development has teamed up with fellow CBN member Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation and many other partners to launch the Kindness Meals program, a collaborative initiative supporting frontline emergency room staff at BJC, Cardinal Glennon, and Saint Louis University hospitals and local businesses suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
