DeSales and Partners Launch Friends of South Grand

DeSales Community Development launched Friends of South Grand on November 15, 2021 to raise funds in support of the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the South Grand medians between Arsenal and DeTonty Avenue. Friends of South Grand was made possible through support and sponsorship from Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC, South Grand CID, and the leadership of St. Louis City Alderwomen Christine Ingrassia and Annie Rice.

Other early supporters include the neighborhood associations of Compton Heights, Compton Hill Reservoir Square, Shaw, and Tower Grove East as well as City Property Company. Tower Grove Park is providing technical assistance.

Tower Grove Neighboorhood CDC Launches ARCH by HomeScreen

TGNCDC has launched ARCH by HomeScreen. ARCH, an acronym for At-risk Renters’ Connection to Housing, is a platform that expands TGNCDC’s tenant screening platform, HomeScreen, to nonprofit organizations searching for rental properties for their clients. At its core, ARCH is an apartment listing service and since launching, they have onboarded 60 landlords and 79 nonprofit users from 31 nonprofit organizations.

CBN Members Partner on Senior Housing Project in Bevo Mill

Midwest BankCentre is donating its current property at the intersection of Gravois Avenue and Morganford Road, land worth $1.6 million, to Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC for a 53-unit affordable housing project, Crossroads Senior Living at Bevo Mill. TGNCDC is also aiming to work with the Missouri Housing Development Commission, St. Louis Affordable Housing Commission, St. Louis Community Development Administration, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, and fellow CBN members the St. Louis Equity Fund and U.S. Bank on the project’s financing package. If the project receives approval for tax credits and other financing assistance, it’s slated to be complete by the end of 2022.

HomeScreen Partners with Employment Connection to Create New Landlord Database for Non-Profit Social Service Providers

HomeScreen, an initiative of Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC, and Employment Connection are partnering to create a database of landlords who are willing to work with local nonprofits to help those most in need of housing by the end of this year. Landlords using HomeScreen will have the opportunity to list their available rental units exclusively to non-profit social service providers (SSPs) at no cost.

TGNCDC's HomeScreen Seeking Landlords to House Displaced Renters, Encourages Landlords to Seek Alternatives to Evictions

Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC’s HomeScreen program, a nonprofit mission-driven tenant screening service, is looking for landlords who are open to renting to those who have been displaced, knowing these renters will have the support of Employment Connection and other supportive service agencies. They’re also encouraging landlords to seek alternatives to evictions during this difficult time for our community.

Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC (TGNCDC) is supporting the communities they serve through the COVID-19 pandemic with gift cards for food, waived rental payments, and assisting with housing the unhoused—plus is guiding other community building organizations through the maze of resources that are available right now. Special thanks to TGNCDC Property and Fundraising Manager Kristan Nickels, who has been sharing her wealth of knowledge weekly on our regular CBN all-member calls about COVID-19!
