RSVP required. Please see the link above for more information.

Join Housing Actoin Illinois, Shriver Center on Poverty Law, and Protecting Immigrant Families Illinois for an overview of the Department of Homeland Security’s Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds Final Rule. The Rule was published August 14, 2019 and was scheduled to go into effect October 15, 2019, but federal court orders temporarily blocked its implementation.

Webinar attendees will gain a basic knowledge of the Final Rule, including who is subject to the “public charge test” and what it entails, the Rule’s expected indirect and direct impact in Illinois, and messages and resources for organizations serving immigrant communities.

If this rule goes into effect, the measure would prevent immigrants from using the programs—for health care, nutrition, housing and other basic human needs—their tax dollars help support. The webinar will also include a brief overview of the 10-4-19 Executive Proclamation requiring health insurance.
